DNF in Action
DNF purchases only unbleached paper with 100% post consumer waste content for use in office machines. In addition, we recycle paper by using both sides.
We participate in the LPEA “100% Club” by purchasing enough wind-generated power to offset 100% of the electricity we use.
20% of the produce we sell in season is local.
While many of our local growers are not certified organic, they follow organic and sustainable growing practices, and the remainder of our produce is certified organic.
7-10% of products throughout the store -including soaps, greeting cards, granola, coffee, eggs and more- are locally and regionally produced.
DNF focuses on reducing packing by accepting plastic/paper bags for customer re-use, offering a 5 cent bag refund for each bag customers provide for themselves, and providing many bulk options in grocery, herbs, coffee and cleaning products, allowing customers to use their own containers for bulk goods.
We stay up to date on consumer advocacy and safety issues and shift our purchasing accordingly.
Our Deli, Juice Bar and Produce departments save compostable food scraps and offer organic compost to customers for free.
The paints we use in the store are completely free of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
We recycle all recyclable waste generated by the store, including receipts customers leave behind, and offer battery recycling to our customers.
All of our T-shirts, bags, and other DNF merchandise are made in the USA, and are made of recycled or organic materials whenever possible.
