Board of Directors
The Durango Natural Foods Board of Directors represents DNF Member-Owners in supervising the operations of the co-op, as well as setting policy, setting goals, and providing vision and guidance for the organization. DNF Member-Owners elect other Member-Owners to serve on the Board. The seven board members spend many hours making sure the Co-op provides what you, the members, want.
The Board hires a General Manager to manage the business as a whole.
The General Manager hires and oversees the staff to take care of the co-op for other Member-Owners.
Attend Board Meetings
The Board of Directors meets a minimum of 12 times per year. Regular Board meetings are held one Monday each month at 5:30 PM at Durango Joe’s Coffee House Community Room just down the street from DNF. All Member-Owners and staff are welcome to attend the meetings. Agendas are posted on the bulletin boards in the stores three days before the meetings. Summaries of approved Board minutes are available in the store. If you have a concern or topic for the board to discuss, please feel free to contact the Board president.

Become a Board Member
As a Member-Owner, you are eligible to run for the board. Every fall, members elect candidates to the Co-op’s seven-member Board of Directors. Contact us to become a candidate in the next Board of Directors election. Economic Democracy is the key in the cooperative philosophy, and it distinguishes cooperatives from the standard corporate structure.
